Hi Everyone,

Fall is finally here and that means its time to start a fresh new year with Colleges Against Cancer! Our first general meeting will be held Tuesday of week 2 in Kinsey 1240b. Join us as we start forming committees and jump right in to plannning all of our upcoming events. ◊ Survivor Fundraiser

Our speaker for the opening ceremony, Ava, is hosting a special fundraising event called "The Beauty in Surviving" Please come support ACS at this event on Friday May 13th starting at 5pm at the UCLA's Fowler Museum. For more info check out the activities page!

◊ Survivorship Updates from Winter Quarter

We have had a very busy quarter in Survivorship. In January we delivered snowflakes with notes to survivors in the Ronald Reagan UCLA Medical Center and had the opportunity to meet and talk to patients undergoing chemo, radiation, and other procedures. In February we teamed up with ORL to create Valentines for the patients and got to deliver them a few days before Valentine’s Day. In February we also had a Bone Marrow Registry Drive to potentially cure patients with Leukemia and Lymphoma. If you haven’t registered it is not too late! We also found out one of our committee members received a call to save a life after she registered at last year’s drive. http://www.dailybruin.com/index.php/article/2011/02/britney_zavada_answers_the_call_from_be_the_match_to_save_a_life

We have also been planning for our Survivorship Barbecue on April 3 at 12pm at Sunset Rec. Please invite any survivors you know and please join us yourselves. RSVP to jcreid@ucla.edu

Finally, we have been actively recruiting survivors for Relay and planning the Opening Ceremonies.
